Celebrate the NFL’s 100th Season
The NFL football season is almost on us, officially kicking off on 5 September with the Chicago Bears and the Green Bay Packers. It is the most popular and most watched professional sport in the US beating out Major League Baseball, the National Basketball Association and the National Hockey League. In 2018 average viewership per game was about 15.5 million! Hopefully this promises to be a great season as it celebrates its 100th season.
For 100 seasons generations of Americans have enjoyed football. Each game is a chance to set aside the cares and frustrations we have and come together and root for our favorite team. We can put on our favorite team jerseys. grab some beer, burgers, nachos and chips and come together with family and friends to enjoy a little friendly rivalry.
An American Favorite Past-time
Most people have their favorite team – often a team with generational support among family and friends. Football brings us together; it is uniquely American. When watching, no one has to care about what political views you have, how much money you make or what race you are. During a game we can just enjoy it all as Americans united in the love of the sport. Men, get a pair of jeans and your favorite chill sports jersey and get ready to enjoy America’s favorite past time. If you’re a woman, get that fan jersey out, low pony, and pair it with your favorite workout leggings and off you go!
In the past few seasons there are some that have attempted to pollute the game with their political views. This has caused consternation among some fans causing many to turn the game off, to stop going to the stadiums and turn from Professional football altogether. It’s a sad thing. But for everyone that has tried to politicize the sport there are ten or twenty times their number that just want to play the game. Just want to give the American people a piece of that great American pie. I believe if we tried to buy products from only people that we agree with or attend events with those of like mind we are diminishing ourselves as Americans. If we do this there are no events that we will be able to attend and most likely there are no products that we can buy. This is not our American way…
Get ready for the festivities
So, this season take back the game, take back our heritage as Americans. Participate in the games. Eat burgers and hotdogs, nachos and chips, drink beer, enjoy the company of your family, friends and neighbors! Be the “12th man”. As a great American general once said “On the fields of friendly strife are sown the seeds that on other days, on other fields will bear the fruits of victory.” It is one of the many things that makes us great as Americans!
